Noor ji wrote “if the number is so great in Punjab, that they matter in elections, they better be encouraged to become a proud part of Sikh community.” Whether they matter in election or not we should make all who want to be Sikhs feel welcome and encouraged to be proud members of community. I am sure Noor Sahib would not want such welcome conditional to their electoral worth or limited to only Bhaiya Sikhs.

Thank you Gurmit ji. I understand what you are saying about the Parbhandaks. The problem is that we all are culpable of being selective in acceptance of the totality of our faith and yet are visibly intolerant of the understanding of others. This is not helping the Sikh thought to move forward to a place and level commensurate with its over 500 years of vichar and bhakti devotion. Parbhandaks may have had something to do with it but it also reflects on our scholarship – especially during a period of 150 years of relative peace, security and a sufficiently supportive environment before 1947. It also reflects on our weakness for the obscure in thought – a position from where the Gurus were trying to remove us.
